Am about to watch the Being Human finale. Oh gosh, guys. OH GOSH.

It occurs to me that my entries contain a lot of bitching. This one will likely be no different but I'll try against that by putting all my ails together and then moving on to other things. So, in no specific order:
- laptop is dead for real this time
- this keyboard (on the Home PC) is a nightmare to use
- working tomorrow morning & then it's the coffee morning with the local college
- am being kind of heinous to family for no real reason (& then feeling like shit about it)
- no monies goddamn
- no iTunes, which is actually more distressing than any of the above. I am a fickle creature
- no NCIS or Criminal Minds this week; I want the next episode of CM so badly, guys, I can't even tell you
I'm sore tempted to do an Unpopular Fandom Opinions List but I'm aware that my mood is not optimal and that what I really want to do is bitch about all the tiny things that I can live with but which annoy me on a daily basis. So, just assume that part is here and that in an hour or so I will feel guilty about it.

My CRB certificate (the thing that certifies my lack of criminal record, huzzarms) came through yesterday which I'm hoping has set in motion various other, um, things. *is vague* But that's A Good Thing.
Another Good Thing is that I finished The Secret History today and promptly started The Little Friend (both by Donna Tartt). Tartt's prose is immensely appealing to me which I find surprising because the tone isn't something that I usually go for. No doubt I'll eventually quote large sections to you because that's the kind of mood I've been in recently.

I also watched a lot of crap today. I actually really enjoyed this week's Sarah Connor Chronicles though I can see why it wouldn't appeal at large. I wasn't so fond of Dollhouse but that's still watchable. I also caught up with Big Love (breaking. my. heart) and United States of Tara, the latter of which is so delightful. I can't sell it because I think it has a very specific appeal but I'm really, really enjoying it and I wish it was more than 30mins long.
This evening I will watch CSI on TV. I have Being Human ready to go, and also NEW SAVING GRACE!!! The second half of the season includes gust appearances by Jessie Schram (Life's Rachel Seybolt) and Christina Ricci and I'm very much ready for this show to be back.

Date: 2009-03-04 08:38 am (UTC)I was under the impression that Saving Grace was one of the cheesy/heartwarming shows in the vain of Judging Amy (yes, possibly down to the structure of the name, must learn to ignore that), and also possibly a medical drama, but having read something about it somewhere on the internet, it actually looks quite interesting. Is it worth giving it a go? And also is it a police drama? And if so, where on earth did I get the medical drama thing from?

Date: 2009-03-04 04:17 pm (UTC)Hahaha. Grace Hanadarko is a promiscuous, drunkard of a fuckup but also a really great cop. She has Issues, but she's fantastic. The show is about her, her friends & family, and her cases. And, um. Her Last-Chance Angel called Earl. No, but really. The show is heavy on religious didactics and that puts a lot of people off but if you accept the premise - she's from a community of Catholics, her Angel wants to restore her to God, she isn't a willing participant in this but whilst the show is about her changing her ways it also raises a fair few points against religious indoctrination - that's easy enough to get over. I find it incredibly compelling viewing, and I really, really love the character relationships. Grace is such an epic fuck up in a lot of ways, but she's also so loving, and has such an honourable core. What I like about the show is that whilst there's a lot of the religious talk, Grace is the protagonist and she herself provides a counterpoint in a very sympathetic way. She can be an ugly character sometimes but she's also so charming. I think the religious angle is really important and really well handled, but others find it too much. I think Holly Hunter is one of the best female characters on TV. I love her.
There IS a medical show coming out soon that's called something tres similar? So. Idk, lols.
