The vampire death? Simultaneously HILARIOUS and really quite horrible to watch.
My interest in Pam continues. I liked her dealing with Jason outside Fangtasia, and then again last week, and this week she continued to be rather fantastic. I loved how in the midst of the vampire death, with Ginger screaming on the side, she and Eric were so still and matter-of-fact about the whole thing. And then later in the bathroom with Sookie. "You have vampire in the cleavage." lols. I loved the trench/dress she wore to Bill's house. Tell me, do you enjoy living half-way up his backside, the way you do? / Yes, it's nice. You should try it. HELL YEAH. I also loved it when she and Eric end up in Merlotte's. Also, Thursdays are ladies night, so be sure to bring a date - that is, if you can get one. ♥
SOOKIE. You can't be in love with Bill and then be pissed that Sam and Tara are getting it together. That? Is not allowed.
"My soul don't wanna get ripped off." OH TARA. Watching her count down in front of the mirror was harsh, although, LOLS, Mama Tara continues to be enthralling to watch. I taught you that was a sin! I like that she's on the offensive when it comes to Sam, but I also want Tara to have some sort of comfort, so that to-and-fro with the both of them makes for some serious watching. Tara's sense of self-worth is horrible to watch. What are you, a masochist? In a lot of ways what the 'healer'/witch doctor says is true: Tara can't even be with herself. She thinks of herself as poison, and oh gosh, that's so sad. I often wonder how the original actress would have played this, but she was more caustic than sympathetic, so I'm pleased about the change. (Haha, all through her scene with Sam in front of her house, all I could think was: Sam, the flowers were a bad call.)
"Don't look up." OH BILL THAT WAS STUPID. I loved how Sookie was wandering around in that black get up, and Bill was all, oh, Pam's just a fucknut, don't worry about her. And then there's that cat in the house (oh, god, that was horrible). When she confronts Balfour, that? Is a thing of beauty. I guaran-damn-tee you. When the Jason's gf intervenes, I wanted to smack that woman; she's so patronising at times. And then she became all likeable the moment the two of them stepped out. The sad thing there, of course, is that she's nowhere near as open as Sookie might think. (I wonder if Sookie will tap into her head?)
In fact, let us talk about all the ways in which Jason and his V-fiend girlfriend are FUCKED UP. From the sex, to the vamp-napping, to the talking trees. In a lot of ways I can see how V-fiend's zen is really appealing but it's also pretty scary because she has a justification for everything, and her sense of right and wrong is skewered by that. I can't tell if her 'love' for Jason is genuine or not, and how far this purification of mind and body stuff goes with that. Jason, thankfully, remains a fuckup. I love when he stops Rene from digging into that root, and how he comes down off his buzz. And then later, the way he bonds with the vamp in his basement. Jason has weird sympathies. His issue is that he wants to be a good guy, but he's also something of a child. He's not an idiot because he's lacking in smarts; he's an idiot because he's very young. In a lot of ways he's still the kid whose parents died in the flash floods. He's that self-same child. And then when the vamp tells him that V-fiend is a psychopath (LOLOL) he retaliates instinctively: he protects the thing that brings him comfort.
The thing about Sam is that whenever he's not around Sookie, he's a perfectly likeable dude. Like that moment when he knows Arlene is hinting at him and he offers up the bar, even though he didn't need to and could have waited for her to actually ask. Arlene kind of fucks that up, lols, but still. Nice. And then the gesture to Tara with the money - I find that a little uncomfortable, actually, but his intentions were sweet. I wonder, though, does Bill know that Sam is a dog-man, so to speak? (I really hope that calling Sam-the-supposed-dog 'Dean' wasn't a Supernatural reference, because that would be fierce annoying.)
As an aside: are we going to get more on the vampire democracy issues? Because at the moment it's simmering in the background, and whilst I certainly don't need to hear about more politics right now, it feels like a thread that's being ignored when it could be really interesting.
I have to say, watching Bill play the wii/golf game made me laugh so hard. He's done it again! Hole in one! lols. And then when the other vamp asks him his best score! This show is so surreal sometimes. Obviously we'll get more on the tribunal next week.
And the confirmation of Sam as Dog Man was SO WELL DONE. Fuck yes.

It wasn't a SPN reference, thankfully. I read the first book in the series over the weekend (the tv adaptation > the books, at least for me) and that's directly from it. It's not a shoutout.

Thank fuck, because that would have been sorely frustrating.
