{ the age of the understatement. }
Oct. 15th, 2008 11:49 amThey're cutting our electricity tomorrow during working hours. I'm considering taking my gear and setting up at Starbucks in the city centre, or alternatively, hiding at my aunt's house. Both plans have pitfalls, though: transport and/or communication with other living beings. The Dad should be ecstatic. /bitter
The most depressing thing about tomorrow - other than having to wait for new Criminal Minds; I HAVE PRIORITIES OKAY - is that a job I applied to is holding interviews tomorrow and I haven't been called up. So: that's another bust. That said, I have found an ad for another job, one that I would really like the opportunity to have, and I'm sorting out that app. today. Keep your fingers crossed for me, y'all.

There's a digital channel that is currently showing season 3 Criminal Minds every Monday and I've taken to watching with my parents. Shows about serial killers are the one thing that my rents and I agree on right now. Anyway, it was the second episode of the season where Gideon is missing, Hotch is prepping to transfer and Emily is trying to quit, and Hotch goes to see Emily to persuade her to come out to the crime scene with him. And Emily, oh gosh. I really hate politics. I remember how much I was taken by her delivery the first time I saw this episode. (I also remember how amazing her apartment is, goshdamn.) And then at the end of the episode where she goes into Eddie Cibrian's character's house, and takes that beating in the basement - she has this resilience, and this quiet defensiveness that isn't always apparent. Someone (I think JJ?) once asked her how she dealt with the horror, and she talked about compartmentalising. Emily is a doer, a fixer, but she's also a secret keeper. She plays things close to her chest. And I guess that's what intrigues me about her: that she has this resilience, and that she is so sympathetic, and that she is not a bully, when her defensiveness could have made her one.

Unrelatedly, some unashamed pimpage: icons. Homicide and Life, plus some new Criminal Minds ones coming soon.

So, yeah, I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow. Probably sit on the couch with a book and my zen. I guess I could load some shows onto my mp3, too. In fact, I'm tempted to do that with Spooks season 5. Omigosh, a new series sooooon! Tremendous!
