So, Saturday - naturally - turned out to be not so bad. We left here later than The Dad told me we would (could have had more sleep!) and boy am I ever pleased that I now own an mp3 because I zoned to that on our way to Surrey. I hugged all my cousins something fierce and then, somehow, it was time to go to the registry office. My bride cousin looked amazing, and nearly all the girls were dressed in pink (weird non-coordinated coordination, woo!), and everyone was in fairly good spirits. My cousin-brother-in-law-to-be (not official until the Indian wedding!) fudged up some of the recitation - eyeroll - and then there were photos in the garden which was lovely.

Headed back to the house for tea and snacks. The girls had to help to serve everyone as per always, but it wasn't a big deal what with there being so many of us. Then we all drove to the hotel where the reception was being held and spent a couple of hours getting dressed in the rooms. Lots of laughter and inappropriate underwear-jokes, lols. Hair, make-up, saris, and then I hung out with my oldest cousin-sister-in-law (with the baby, aw) whilst she was on door duty, saying hi to the guests and directing them to their tables. All the cousins were on one table, which was awesome, though some time in the first hour our table mysteriously moved closer to the dancefloor, hmmmm...

I missed most of the hoohah when the couple entered the hall and cut the cake because I was with my cousin, his wife and their baby, but later we danced, ate and then danced some more. I played with a lot of little people, I danced to a lot of music, I ate well, I laughed with my cousins and I had a great time. All in all, lovely.

Next weekend, on wedding-o-rama: I get to pretend to be a grown-up. The way it works in weddings is that the bride's sister/cousin (or, rather, the next girl eligible for marriage in the family) welcomes the groom and his family to the wedding. I talked about this last time. It's basically one of my favourite parts of the wedding, all the welcoming and good cheer. But! I totally blanked on the fact that, technically, I'm next. (I have two female cousins who are older than me but for reasons that take too long to explain here, they don't really count.) So. Anyway. That's what I'm doing! And stupidly, this makes me kind of excited. Stupidly because (a) it puts me in kind of a public positions (ugh) and (b) because the freaking pot/coconut thing that I have to carry on my head is heavy. But I like the idea of being a part of it, so I guess that's a plus.

Today The Sister's new bed arrived. You know - apart from the part where the guy didn't deliver the main frame. lols.

Working at the store tomorrow morning. Am not too fussed about it, though, because it should be a good change of pace, and I probably won't be there more than a couple of hours. Should probably transfer Natalie Merchant's Motherland album to the zen, though, because I have suddenly rediscovered its magnificence. Guh, amazing.
