Been a while, been a while.

So... how much of Amsterdam's recovery was due to his still being immortal, and how much of it was the pure chance fluke that often happens in real life? Because if it's more the latter, then he's just severed ties with the woman that he's supposed to be soulmates with. And how do you crawl back from that? (Ugh, especially after all the effort that went into pursuing her in the first place?)

That said, I wish she'd just get to grips with the 400 years old thing. What I don't understand is why, once she came back to him, he didn't offer her some sort of proof - the photographs, for example, the family tree. Omar's blood! Is it because he really wasn't sure if she was the one?

Anyway, if the show comes back, it'll be nice to see other people. If not, this romance plot is becoming trite really quick. (I'm not a fan of watching on-again, off-again relationships. I have no interest in them.)

I did enjoy watching Eva and Burnett this week; they're pretty fierce, the two of them. I'd like to see more of them. You know. If this doesn't get canned. (Other things I'd like to see: yes, still more Amsterdam offspring; other immortals.)

Hee, bless Zack. He got a wonderful amount of dialogue this week.

LOLS, DOUBLE-DATING. Poor Sweets. "I'm cobalt!" What is it with making Brennan ever more out of the loop? She wasn't like that in the first season. And she's not Ziva; the woman can put together a basic idiom. I'm pretty certain she knows that it's a bowling alley, and not a rink, so who knows what that was about.

I remember nothing of this week's case other than whatever Cam was wearing in the first couple of acts was hott. Either way, it was just nice to have a new episode, I think.

A Reid episode that dealt with the aftermath of his drug addiction in a way that didn't make me want to repeatedly smack my head against a wall.

I enjoyed the episode a lot, even though I found a lot of the (implied) violence quite rough - that's pretty rare considering how dark this show can get, and how light-weight this week's episode was. I liked Reid's need to connect with the unsub; I liked Hotch's talk with him at the end; I liked Morgan reaching out a little way. The story about Reid's ritual humiliation was horrible, as was the point, if not a little anvil-y.

All in all, a good episode; I was into the case, I was into the character plot, and I wasn't bored.

How much do I love Stella Bonasera? If it had been Catherine Willows under scrutiny then no doubt she would have started up a beef with Quinn even before she entered the room. Stella just calmly slides to the side, asks for input and shares a smile about tequila. I love her, and I love how open and kindly she is.

Someone somewhere threw out the idea that Quinn was the killer and then suggested that was cracked; um, not so much? I certainly played with that as a concept more than once. I quite liked her character, actually.

Poor Lindsay. I don't really have anything else to say about that. I just felt badly for her. And that conversation she had with Mac made me ache for her even more. What I liked about that was Mac's distant - but available - concern for her, and his face when she walked away.

Note to self: do not sit down to watch this show with food. Man, the first act was disgusting.

First off: I enjoyed the episode. I would have liked more about the cylons than the rest of it, but it was a good episode. I was surprised when it finished because it seemed to go by quite quickly.

That said, Cally's death freaked me out. Treatment of female characters on this show freaks me out. Treatment of minorities on this show freaks me out. I understand the plot motivations for what happened to Cally; it just disappointed me that another female character was degraded and then killed. I love me some Roslin and Starbuck and Six, I really do, but I'm waiting for one of the other female characters to not get treated like shit. (If you can have Helo going around being basically the guy who keeps his head down and has his shit sorted, there has to be a female equivalent. If the closest we have to that is Dualla - who was second-best to Kara Thrace... guys, come on, that stinks - then I think the female characters on this show are frakked.)

To conclude: Rekha Sharma is a badass and I kind of love her. (Also, what the heck was Adama reading to Roslin, lols?)

Sarah Connor Chronicles looks like it'll be back. Fuck yes.

Have yet to watch the latest NCIS; caught a couple of old school X-Men cartoon episodes. I love everybody's funky 80s hair. And Gambit! Mostly I forgot how weirdly everyone spoke.

BSG was practically awesome, I loved the darkness of it. I was never a Cally fan though her death scene was very creepy, and extremely well done in demonstrating her emotional freakout and breakdown. Though I don't see the mistreatment of which you are seeing; IDK, I guess I like all gray areas for all characters and the atmosphere with BSG is dark, so by default everyone is frakked. Which is why I love this show, it reflects reality in a scifi world that makes you question, and it does it so well and it's so darkly done that I applaud it for pushing those uncomfortable boundaries.

TSCC returning -- HELL to the frakking YEAH! *squees*

I enjoyed the episode a lot; I thought that Nicky Clyne acted the shit out of her scenes.

Sometimes I wonder about death counts on shows, is all. And other things. (Razor disturbed the heck out of me and not for the conventional reasons. But again, I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it.) I'm not saying that the male characters aren't frakked up, too, I'm just saying it comes out in very different ways, and the consequences are very different. BSG is much better with this stuff than nearly every other show out there, though, so it's not a huge complaint.

I can't wait for new SCC episodes. The first season was so tightly scripted. I love that.

I loved Adama reading to Roslin. They are one of my die-hard OTPs so to see him extending a hand to her after their blow out in the previous episode warmed my heart.

As for the female characters issue, there must be some decree that all female characters are to be shrewish/broken/doormat. I used to love Starbuck when she was a cocky "just one of the guys" pilot. Now, I'm not feeling her and I blame the writers, not Katee. Cally was always going to be written as the victim who seeks comfort in the victimizer after she got beaten up by her teacher's crush Galen.

I think the strongest female character at the moment is Athena simply because she overcame what Starbuck and Roslin are fighting: uncertainty and chaos. The woman has established herself as Sharon "Athena" Agathon-fighter, woman, mother, and Cylon.

I love Tory a lot simply because she's moving us away from the "Final Five are protecting the humans and will not hurt their own" thing. She's freaking awesome.

Where's Hera?

I loved this episode, mostly because I love Reid. While he goes against my dislike of woobie characters, he is kick-ass on his own terms. I love him being strong enough to go through this episode on his own terms to create an end-game situation that would not put blood on his hands and collect another injustice in the world. Instead of standing back and letting Owen go down alone in a hail of bullets, he did something. You see something wrong, you go out and fix it before it comes and destroys everyone. It is only when you attempt to fix the problem can you say "you've done the best you could".

I cannot wait for a JJ and an Emily episode. I think we've been long overdue for both. Plus, I rather like this cast and I need more.

Yis. [/end of insane ramblings]

Urrgh I too watched CSI NY with my tea and nearly spewed it, shark autopsy? Really there is no need! It brings back memories of smelly dissection last sem.

My pet peeve? How come Danny and Lindsay get so much more air time as a non-couple than they do as a couple? What stage was their relationship at anyways?

It's like no-one knows how to dramatise a female character in any other way. Actually, that's one of the reasons why I really enjoy Criminal Minds because all three women are sharp, human and (I feel) incredibly real. (That said, every one in that show is suffering some sort of ptsd, so maybe not.)

I think the strongest female character at the moment is Athena simply because she overcame what Starbuck and Roslin are fighting: uncertainty and chaos.
Excellent point; I hadn't even thought of Athena at this point (mostly because I was distracted by Cavil/Boomer - I'm assuming it's supposed to be Boomer). But you're absolutely right; she's definitely the strongest, and on her own terms, too, which I love. (Haha, where's Hera indeed.)

I think Tory is so hardcore. And Rekha Sharma is kicking ass in the role.

re: CM, I can't believe there isn't an episode this week! (Um. I may be buffering what little spare time I have with season 1 episodes? ...yes.)

Reid's need to establish a balance between the number he saves and the number he doesn't -- I love that. I loved that Reid was collecting names, too, but he was collecting reasons to live whereas Owen was collecting injustices on a road to death.

I think the next episode is a JJ episode. I love the women on this show. I mean. I love everyone. But I love the women.

Haha, for me it was the cuts in the dead body's shoulder. Ugh. I don't know what it is but some visual patterns make me feel ill. Like stippling in wood? That freaks me out. And those gashes in the corpse were just too much, lols.

Seriously. It is one of the few really well written series that can write a woman realistically. They have strengths and weakness that compliment and balance out.

While there is PTSD and all sorts of broken, it feels correct given the nature of their job. I would think that people who have experienced some type of horrific things in the past would want to learn about ways to combat it and prevent others from hurting as well.

Cavil/Boomer

My god, I did a double take at that. Poor Boomer, seeking a home in the arms of ... yeah.

I think the next episode is a JJ episode.

I am so freaking excited about this upcoming episode. I do feel JJ needs some development on her own and I can't wait to see what nuggets of information we learn about her.

We need an Emily episode stat.

I love that. I loved that Reid was collecting names, too, but he was collecting reasons to live whereas Owen was collecting injustices on a road to death.

He was following Gideon's footsteps there. Gideon's little black notebook held all the reasons why he could wake up in the morning. But look what happened to that. Reid has to internalize these names because that's what is keeping him going. He's doing something and he's got breathing bodies to prove it.

Reid would have been Owen if his own genius went unnoticed or was buried in the school system without college as an escape. Except-except I don't think there would be much stopping Reid. He's too smart to be stopped which is so scary to imagine.
