I can't see any userpics on livejournal. They won't show. ??? Just lots of little ugly red crosses. *sadface*

So, I know a lot of the UK flisters are into QI, and really, who wouldn't be? Lots of fun. Anyway, there was a QI fact regarding caffeine intake and [livejournal.com profile] twincy used that as an excuse to make a poll. To the flist at large: do you drink caffeine? The answer is likely yes. Please go and tell her so. You know you want to. Go on. Go on. !

*takes off pimp hat*

My bottle of water has a label saying the following:

Bottle intended exclusively for the use of Volvic Natural Mineral water, do not refill. Store in a cool, dry and clean place away from light and strong odours or chemicals.

Finished my bibliography this morning, trekked to campus, printed it off, handed it in, picked up the ballot for my 3rd year options and made an appointment to see my personal tutor. Trekked to main campus (why do I always choose to trek around midday? It's flipping boiling out there), bought some postcards, headed back to Pw., bought some pancakes, came back to the house and just had lunch in The Flatmate's room whilst she absent-mindedly watched Neighbours (with which she is obsessed). I was generally unhelpful, constantly asking what was going on and talking over the last five minutes of the episode. Yay!

I will be spending the afternoon writing emails and watching CSI & Raines, before reading The Subtle Knife. Which reminds me: need to email my group to meet up tomorrow. I much prefer this group to the lot I'm with for Research Skills - mostly because they're a nice lot and leave their conceit at the door. Also, I like this unit, huzzah.

I may or may not have mentioned it before, but my brain has a really difficult time dealing with the year (2007 for those of you lost in time). Mostly because I still think 1997 is recent. This is probably because I remember really random things about that year. One of those really random things is that the Easter of '97 (i.e. April) we had the worst floods I'd ever seen up to that point. They weren't so bad as the ones we had at the start of the millennium but it was the first time I'd seen them. I always remember them, even though they were a regular April occurrence for the next couple of years.

I bring this up now because it is really, really hot outside. We're not supposed to see temperatures like this until late May. Sure, sunny we get, but hot? Not so much. Ten years ago, this was typically a time of overcast skies and buckets upon buckets of rain. I remember the first time the sun broke after the flooding - I was sat in my room, and something was different about the room: sunlight. It was a surprise - that's how long it had been since we'd seen the sun come out. And now this. It freaks me the fuck out. Ten years isn't as long as people say it is.

Also? I hold this up as proof that for the British, talking about the weather is an art form. It's good bullshit all to do with small talk. Weather talk is part of the damn vernacular. Hoy!
