The very best thing about watching old-school Xena? Hearing the off-screen shouts of, "Get him, Xena!" Cracks me up every freaking time.

I've got my first lectures tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to them. The 9am one is African lit. and cult. (Rider Haggard's She is a wonderful narrative that was surprisingly easy to read for what it was. I'm glad we started on that one and not Heart of Darkness); the afternoon lecture is Modernism. It's an intro thereof so no set texts this week. Because of Diwali, I think I may be missing the first seminar I have on a set text in Mod. Hmm.

I am really a little tired of fandom right now, mostly because I've been on a bit of a binge. Suffice to say that my response to most things was either yay or meh. Nothing filling me with Rage or Haaaate, so I guess we can count that as a good thing. Unfortunately the overwhelming response was meh. This does not include Numb3rs which I loved desperately. I also finally saw the last episode of Carnivale. How much do I hate that the series got cut on that cliffhanger? Gah.

To conclude: the Norbit trailer is live now. Love Thandie.

I IMDb'ed actress-who-plays D'Anna!cylon on BSG this afternoon. I knew I knew her from somewhere, but she was Xena? I did not see that coming.

This is really only peripherally related to your post. I'm happy you're happy about having lectures; hang on to that feeling as long as you can. Also: I should really e-mail your housemate. And watch that episode of Carnivale that's been sitting on my harddrive for weeks.

Lucky it'll grow back to normal *Crosses fingers*

Xena = ♥

If the dvds weren't so damned expensive, I'd buy them all. :X

I'm tired of fandom too. Just sick of the bad fic, the bad icons, just all the badness. :(

I still have a card to send you. I am such a slacker. :(

Your lectures sound interesting, especially the Modernism one. When you find out about the texts for that class can you share them or just email them to me? I would love to see what you are reading.

My Numb3rs love is still going strong despite my meh feelings for the previous episode.

And HBO sucks for cancelling Carnivale and Deadwood, especially Deadwood. Bastards.

Hee, I actually never remember that she's called Biers or whatever, and just call her Xena, Warrior Cylon. /geek

We haven't spoken for a while! But that's because I've been assy about commenting and replying to comments. Hope you're well. You can email N whenever you want, she's going to be here for a while. And yes! Carnivale. You should :)

Xena for the win, huzzah!

Yeah, fandom is making me seethe. So I'm going to see about stepping back and being quiet. Maybe that will work? (Not likely. I've just made screencaps and posted fic. Sigh.)

No, you're not a slacker. *hugs* NOT a slacker. You should see how long it takes me to get off my hind and do anything. (Btw, did I send you my uni address? It should be the Southampton one. If not, let me know.)

The Modernism course is made of many kinds of awesome - Heart of Darkness, Yeats' Selected Poetry, Eliot's Selected Poetry, Pound's Selected Poetry, Nightwood (Djuna Barnes), Virginia Woolf (Room of One's Own, Three Guineas), Ulysses, and Absalom, Absalom! (which I can't wait to get stuck in to).

Hurrah! I've been trying to see what the fandom makes of the fast : slow episode ratio and which people like which episodes better. Then I realised that I can't distinguish between either so that's a bit useless.

Deadwood! I have to check that out still.
