[livejournal.com profile] wliberation, omgwtf. You did not tell me that there is a variety of tango known as Finnish Tango. Sigh! AND IT'S ALL MELANCHOLY AND IN THE MINOR KEY! *FLAILS*

*listens to old-ish Olavi Virta - again*

Heh. No. Sorry. I'm being serious.

It's just that I have a bit of a love/hate/omgIcannotstoplaughing relationship with Finnish Tango. It comes from growing up with it. (And it's funny, when you said tango, I didn't even think of our tango. Huh.) Especially the song you were playing when you made this post. We used to sing that song in music class in elementary school with these annoying nasal voices and a tremolo in the chorus. I guess everybody did. Because it's just That Kind of Song.

But hey, it's cool that you're interested. Mostly when foreigners listen to our tango, their reaction is more of the wtf kind, so this is refreshing. I could do some digging for you. How many Finnish tango songs have you found so far?

Lol, no, I could tell from the sound of it that it's not exactly...well, modern. But I'm going through a phase for French music of a similar age and I love the Virti stuff. Maybe it helps to not know what he's talking about? Lolz.

Yeah, Olavi Virta is definitely Old School. But Finnish Tango is still very much alive these days. There's an annual tango singing competition held at Seinäjoki (a city, um, somewhere down south, I forgot where exactly *brainpalm*), and the entire dance hall phenomenon is still kicking.

It does help not knowing what he's singing about, yes. :)

Yeah, I know. Um *sheepish* (coughhas been a researching fiendcough)

No, this past week I've watched both Amelie and The Truth About Charlie. Again. And they both feature 'older' music from Spain and France. Then I had my tango fit, and then I heard Virti and I feel like I should own a gramaphone.

Virta.

I'm so retarded sometimes. I isn't even on the same side of the keyboard as A. *headdesk*

Ah. Now I'm back in the conversation.

Also, Truth About Charlie? Any good?

:)

Truth About Charlie is daft; watchable, but really so daft. The only surprise was the random femslash that was jumping all over the place. Yet another film that I only bought fro Thandie Newton. (Is it so shameful to wish bad things on Mark Wahlberg? I think not).

Ha, just watched the end of an episode of Magnificent 7. I can't see Buck without thinking of you, lol.

If I remember correctly, there was a meme when people had to guess my favourite characters from my fandoms. You were fawning over Buck's facial hair, which, lolz.

Ha! Now I remember. Yes, Buck's lovely facial hair. He looks like a walrus. Which, yo, *adores in a cracktastic way*.

So now I see Buck (or rather, his moustache) and think of you.

Isn't that lovely?!
