So, because I obviously haven't been organised up to now, I have done the following:

[1] Checked over my CV;

[2] Made a mail filter in gmail so that all of the job application emails are in one place;

[3] Collected my CV and all of my job application letters into one file on my harddrive;

[4] Collected the rejection letters sent to me in a manila folder.

On Monday (as was originally the plan, thank you Dad for not letting me get a word in edgeways), I am taking twenty-odd CVs with me as I go office-to-office in town looking for a job. I have a notepad of job details already so I know which places I'm hitting first, and I'll be prepared to take down any information they give me. £4.25 is the current minimum wage for young workers aged 18-21 years (it raises to £4.75 in October) and I'm willing to work that rate and substantial hours for six days a week. I've done it before, I can do it again.

I'm in a hella bad mood right now and if it were possible, I'd just offer my services as a temporary editor for short stories and articles. My beta-ing aside, I've edited before, and quite successfully, so I don't see why that can't be an option.

In other news, I need to find a sari for the wedding tomorrow. Then I need to make sure that the blouse fits.

*is abjectly horrified at minimum wage*

That sounds very organised. I wish you luck in your job hunt and hope you can find something at better than minimum wage so you don't have to work so many hours.

There needs to be more editing jobs out there. Clearly many publications are cutting down on their editing staff.

Well, considerig that at one point I was earning £3.50 an hour, £4.25 sounds good to me. And most places seem to be offering c.£7, which is good. I don't mind long hours of office work. I'm quite happy to sit there and do what they need me to do. See? I'd be perfect at admin.

Thanks; yes, there do need to be more editing jobs out there. Sigh. :)

*so can't imagine being perfect at admin*

7quid (stupid american laptop doesn't have a pound sign) sounds a much more livable wage.

I earned 3.50 an hour once, but I was cleaning offices and it was 1994. minimum wage seems to be completely unrelated to cost of living in this country.

All fingers crossed for you! :)
