I have a job! Yay! It's temporary so far because they want to see how we work out, and work doesn't actually start until the second semester starts, in February. It's all on campus, which is convenient. I have one very early start but that's cool. Three 3 hour shifts. Yay! Here's to some structure in my life. Hopefully the job will work out to be a bit more long term.

In other news, I have been productive this morning, huzzah! I went for my informal interview, I'm in the process of doing laundry and I have thoroughly vacuumed the room (the word vacuum is fanstastically German; that double U makes me happy every time I see it). Next I'm going to put new sheets on the bed, and change the bedclothes. Then I have to go back to the laundry room and stick my clothes in the drier. After that, I need to stick in my receipts, inform the parentals of the jobness, and take a good look at my poetry notes so that I can get to work on the actual essay tomorrow.

Last night I watched 2x01 of CSI:NY. I know I was sad to have Hawkes leave that beautiful morgue (the building was magnificent) and I do miss the sweetheart recluse but Hawkes the CSI? I have so much love for. He's funny, he's confident, he's sassy. It's adorable. I've always liked his character.

The sets are very, very airy now. The camera work is very sharp and I quite like it. I'm a fan of the old-school, blue filter they were using in the first four episodes but this is great; a lot better than that blurry, not-sure-what-we're-doing work they were producing after those first four episodes. I like that it's not so dark, but I also miss that New York quality. This is the New York that I think about, but it's not the textured NYC of, say, the L&O series (and for good reason; CSI is set in freaking LA).

Stella. STELLA. Omg. Still one of my favourites and the new camera quality really works for her; the costume department have really worked on her. She's looking brilliant (and her cheekbones! And her hair! Envy!) and she still has the best lines. /shallow

Mac is looser, again because of the costumery, but also in general. His interaction with Hawekes is brilliant because Hawkes has gone from being his equal to his subordinate and he's got to measure up to that. His sense of humour has expanded beautifully. "Did you know Hawkes is an encyclopaedia of minutae?" [paraphrase] That being said, his interaction with Aiden was very old-school, pressing on her. I haven't seen much of him with Danny and I'd like to see if he's lost faith in him completely or if there's now a move towards reconciliation. Speaking of Aiden, she still has awesome hair. I can so see where this is going with her, even though I haven't really been spoiled for how. It's heartbreaking to see because she's brilliant and so very New York. The last montage was interesting, with her cutting open the evidence bag. We all know how this story ends.

Danny, Danny. Smartass. And Flack's shiny new hair cut! Both boys make me very happy. Danny is less irritating, more buoyant. Flack is still so fucking loud but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Again, the wardrobe has Danny a little older, a little more chic than son-of-mafia. It's an interesting touch.

The story quality still has me riveted, and the camerawork is showy but not ridiculous a la Miami. The pace of the teaser was mindblowing. I was so excited, especially as it kept panning around that circle of people. Then, later, when Mac is riding up the building and the camera swoops past him - you know, you're not supposed to draw attention to the camera but in this instance I'm willing to let it slide because it was just wonderful and captured this sense of new found joy. All that adrenaline spiking in the air. Absolutely beatiful.

It's good to watch. I feel good about it, and conscious of the science and the people. NY is so much better than Miami at handling the people parts. Argh! OK, I have to collect my laundry now. Back later with stuff on 2x02.
