Oh, wow, this week has been batshit crazy on a whole new level of— no, ok, let’s start with the fact that my insomnia? So back in action and so not not what I need right now. Hence all the iconage, btw – I needed something to do in the wee hours of the night. The only reason there aren’t more is because I’ve been downloading and watching S4 of Alias (which rocks, but more on that later). Revision has me swinging between bouts of apathy and hysteria; I’m actually learning things now ("I Am Especially Proud!" Helen Proclaimed is a sentence that will not leave me alone). This weekend, I’m going to finish psych. and look back over all my war lit. stuff. It’s time to vibe that shit into my head again. Suffice to say, I’m not looking forward to it.
Also, denying myself eljay whilst rebounding on my insomnia? Not my best idea. Eljay? I will never leave you again! *HUGS*

Oh the fannish. Let’s do this in order.
The ER finale was amusing on so many levels and satisfying because I’m easily manipulated. It wasn’t a spectacular episode but I’ve given up all hope of it ever regaining the pace of the earlier seasons. The shot when the floors collapse? Best shot ever. Seriously, the way the people disappear from behind Ray’s head was awesome. I also liked when Neela and Abby were treating the stage guys and Neela was all, ‘Well, it’s a good thing I’m not a Hindu’. Parminder Nagra is the funniest thing around. Her delivery is spot on. (‘Do you think it’d be weird to put Dear Neela?’)
And yes, it was sweet when Carter was walking out and there were all those voices (Hathaway, Greene, Benton – aw! Why the fuck didn’t Kingston get this exit?!) but the best bit had to be when Morris is drunk and Carter’s all ‘You set the tone’ but Morris is like, the fuck? Loved that so much.
Another sweet thing that I’m determined to remember – Pratt telling that guy off for being a drunk and dumping his kid. Pratt is actually a better character these days, especially since Jing Mei disappeared. He’s just… better, more developed. Next season I’d like to see fully developed characterisations. And more Dubenko. Of course.

I watched Alias 321 on Tuesday and then d/l the finale and some of S4. Right now, it’s just gone Buffy-slash-Elektra on my ass, which is odd and creepy and cut it the fuck out, please. S4 really is tons better than S3; the pace is back, there are shiny digs and we’re super-spying again! Mia Maestro, by the way, is the perfect choice for Nadia Santos. There’s this scene in 401 when she’s in spymode and she smiles - damn does she remind me of Lena Olin in that shot. That’s brilliant casting. She and Weiss are so sweet. (I know, I’m a sap. We covered that already). I especially love 403 when Syd’s holding a party for Weiss and Jack turns up with the funny. (Victor Garber is my hero). Oh and the Libertyville episode? Uh, odd much? Thank you Erin [at] TWoP because you summed it up perfectly – Spysteria Lane *laughs* That was great.
Bottom line? Loving S4. And the new credits! Super shiny. One last thing that amused me - two of the most recent spy destinations? Only Palermo and Damascus *has a Spooks fic flashback*

Aw, CSI was the best that I’ve seen in a while. It was just really, really good. I loved how the cases segued nicely into each other; the way we caught snippets of the others as we saw each one. I liked how characters from one bit linked to the other; I liked the rewind sequences and I loved all the dialogue. From the coroners squishing black goo to Sara and Liam in the shower to Catherine telling us how DogYearsLindsay is now at some posh school – everything about the episode was fantastic. 4x4 goes into my top five.
5. Fight Night - it was just good. It’s similar to 4x4 but less… I don’t know. It didn’t have the same panache.
4. 4x4 - yes! Old school CSI. About fucking time, too. I miss this type of writing; this type of focus on the case at hand. I loved this episode.
3. Homebodies – yes, it’s another Sara episode but it’s touchingly done, too. The entire thing is creepy in a bad (good) way and I enjoyed it; well, as much as you can enjoy anything about rape. I like how Nick and Sara’s case crossed over with Gil’s. Actually, I like it whenever that happens in the series. (NY did it recently with the fantastic Three Generations Are Enough).
2. Chaos Theory - I always have a fetish for the episodes when the whole crew work on one case and Chaos Theory was the first episode of the second series to do that. It was such an interesting case and like 4x4, the dialogue was witty and pacey and science-packed. I miss that; I miss the science behind CSI. I especially love how the random events come together right at the end.
Also? I’m totally into the real chaos theory, too. /geek
1. Too Tough to Die - only my first ever episode (yeh, I caught the series real late). I love the B-plot with Catherine and Warrick and I love the A-plot with Sara and Gil and Nick. I love it when Gris gets Nick to chase after the dogs. I love it when Sara promises that woman that she’ll get the guy who did it to her. I love it when Warrick and Cath are messing with the camera and work out the case. I just live this episode. Still my favourite.

Murphy’s Law is good because it’s good – not because it’s anything like what it used to be. A very dark episode in which Murphy loses his finger. I liked his interactions with that other UC cop and it was cool how her death turned out to be unrelated to the case. Murphy’s new boss makes me laugh and cringe simultaneously and the fat bastard is a good guy. Oh! Scary H!ITG - Azazeal from Hex plays the bad guy’s lackey! So odd to see him without black hair. His eyes are still odd, though.

Hugh Laurie is my other hero. I’m allowed to have two. He’s just… ok, I hate the accent but I can get over it. The premise behind the character is truly wonderful. I love his sense of humour, I love his sardonic wit, I love his fuckitall attitude and I loved the orange man (because that was too funny). I also love that Bernstein from SN is his boss.
I love the actual premise of the show and I love that it's stolen CSI's TMIcam. I love how it feels shiny and new but also comfortable and not out of sorts. I like the group composition and the dialogue and most of the filming. Most. I especially love how it feels like the first time I saw CSI and just fell for it. Let's hope this doesn't degrade.
I do (of course) have one grouch – what the hell is up with the blue filter? Is it really necessary?! I’m sure the set is shiny without it. It’s a little absurd. The stuff with that girl is interesting because I’m easily played by writers. I’m just more amused by the fact that Billy from Neighbours is now all grown up. Thank god I don’t watch that show anymore.
Will definitely be watching next week.

OK, I’m going to watch the rest of the Alias episode and then go and re-read Measure for Measure. Yes, the whole thing.
