6 A.M. Thoughts
Apr. 19th, 2005 06:20 pmHad book group today - Larkin's Whitsun Weddings. I want to post another Larkin poem but I'll restrain myself. Finished Trapido's Temples of Delight today. Really need to figure out which order the books come in. Today's poem is for all of us who wish we didn't wake up today.
6AM Thoughts by Dick Davis
As soon as you wake they come blundering in
Like puppies or importunate children;
What was a landscape emerging from mist
Becomes at once a disorganised garden.
And the mess they trail with them! Embarrassments,
Anger, lust, fear - in fact the whole pig-pen;
And who'll clean it up? No hope for sleep now-
Just heave yourself out, make the tea, and give in.
In other news, last night's ER saw Wendall waling off in ahuff after a midnight call from Kem - ha! Cynthia Nixon was very good (except she did little); Neela always makes me smile. Something in last night's episode made me laugh out loud but I can't remember what it is now. Bugger. Also saw last week's Hustle: very slick, very amusing. May well watch again. There was no Alias, which was a pain, admittedly. CSI tonight :)
