TBJ so far
Apr. 10th, 2005 04:13 pmSome points (that become something of a commentary as I cap 104):
- Damn does Kibre wear a heck of a lot of red. No woman should have that much red in her closet however gorgeous a colour it is. (I must admit, Neuwirth suits that particular tone so well but still).
- 104's story was the best so far. I'm totally hooked on this series.
- Kibre and Branch are damn close. They're forever having lunch. Doesn't he have other ADAs to attend to? (psstMcCoypsst)
- Amy Carlson is very sweet but she can be awesome when she's given real material. I wouldn't go so far as to suggest that she's the Eames of the pairing; more that she's Ross to the Mothership's S7 McCoy. Which is needed, I'll admit but I still have reservations about back billing some actors over others.
- I'm still in love with Bebe Neuwirth.
- Whoever directed 104 is a genius; the shots were brilliant. 103 was waaay too choppy but 104 had nice holds. I was very pleased. (Yeh, ok, I've been screencapping).
- I will never ever like anyone more than I did Adam Schiff but Arthur Branch's turn of phrase is growing on me.
- Dude! Did you see that scene in 104 when that kid calls Kelly a bitch and then Kibre blows up in face? LOVE. THAT. SCENE. (Also? The end of 103 when Kelly asks what Kibre thought the verdict would be: Kibre says she doesn't speculate, Kelly (Am I spelling Kelly correctly?) says she knows what she thinks and then Kibra tells her she's wrong; the guy was totally convicted. Of course, they'll never know, what with the verdict being sealed etc).
- Whenever they dress Neuwirth in anything but red, it's either this gaudy pink colour (yeeuch) or a b/w combo that just makes her look really godawful pale. Carlson, however, always looks...shiny. Seriously.
- Neuwirth's head bobs a lot when she speaks. Both she and Carlson blink more than is (possibly) humanly healthy.
- These two women have bizarrely alternating levels of chemsitry. Sometimes they work fabulously together; other times I wonder if they're partners or not.
- Who are those two assistants? The red-head is sweet.
- Oh god Carlson, take your hands out of your pockets.
- OMIGOD STOP BLINKING (so much).
- Whoever the hell it was that decided that wearing shirts with collars/cuffs that don't match is attractive needs a LABOTOMY. Whoever then decided to give Branch one of these shirts (light blue with white collar/cuffs) and pair it with a cherry RED tie needs to be shot. (Heh, I wonder what Thompson did to piss off the wardrobe department that day).
- Heh, Neuwirth has the best facial expressions. Carlson would too if they had her, you know, doing something. (Although, I loved the arraignment scene in 104).
- I love how the camera randomly spotlights Gaffney, just to, you know, remind us that she exists.
- (104) Neuwirth looks cute in that scene with the druggie. Heh, can't believe I just typed that.
- Oh, see, that black suit is so nice.
- What I find interesting is that Kibre (and jeez, I keep spelling it Kibra and now I want to call her Kibre the Cobra. Fuck) has these instances of insecurity but unlike, say Goren and Eames, I can't use those to suggest that she's the weaker of the two characters. What I'm trying to posit is that Goren, whilst something of a frontliner in his duo, is not the stronger, more resilient of the pair. Eames is. I can't pin this on Olivia/Eliot because they have issues about different things. My point is that whilst Kibre has sudden moments of doubt, she always overcomes them. AT the end of 104, when the defense attorney pushes that she too fell for the act, she says, "I wanted to." Reminds me of Mulder's poster - 'I want to believe'.
- Ugh, this is what I mean about the chemistry. The scene in 104 when Kibre is working (showing us that this has impacted on her severely) and Gaffney is in the doorway (going home because obviously she doesn't care as much - god, that's so fucking contrived. Maybe Kibre has more to do dumbasses) and Kibre is talking about whether or not that kid's played them and Gaffney's all don't even think about it? I'm sorry, is she trying to be reassuring? Because it comes across as though she doesn't give a shit. Seriously. Jeez.
- Ugh. Pink t-shirt. Why? And OMIGOD did you see that flowered scarf at the end? Oh please.
- Felt bad for Defense guy. Just sayin'.
Omigod. Now I want to write fic. I am so stupid.
