Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] snowpenguin545 :)

Post a list of 10 TV fandoms/shows you follow (current or cancelled!)

Have your friends list guess your favorite CHARACTER from each show.

When guessed bold the line and write a sentence about why you like that character.

Post in your own livejournal.

So, here's my list: All done! You're all superb :)

  1. Alias - Irina Derevko

Oh come on! Irina Derevko is astounding - poise, elegance, deadly intent. She's intangible, almost. She doesn't have her daughter's reserves of sap; she's elusive and riddling; she's awesomely capable. AND NOTHING ABOUT HER BUGS ME. Because that's what normally defines liking for me, whether or not I can stand the character. Irina is fantastic and Lena Olin does the character so much justice that I'm practically speechless. 2. ER - Romano

So I have a thing for the surgeons - I quite like Dubenko too. But, anyways - before the stupidly Evil Helicopter of Doooooom, Romano was the best! (Are you sensing a recurring pattern of grumps yet?) The guy was so straight cut. Right was right, wrong was wrong. Don't fuck around, don't waste time. Who cares if he didn't try to make friends? He wasn't there for that. He was there to DO HIS JOB. It's not like he was heartless - remember the time when he signed to Benson's kid to take care of his dad? Or that time (when they heard about Green's death) when he worked on the girl with leukaemia all night? He was a good guy! Stupid helicopter story. ([livejournal.com profile] crouchingmajor, eventually!)

  3. CSI - Sara Sidle

I have far too much of a fondness for this character, especially since they've been gradually killing her from S3 onwards. But Sara was introduced as the new girl and she didn't care that others teased her about her potential over-eagerness; she didn't care that she spent way too much time in the lab; she didn't care that she didn't have so much of a life outside of the lab. She liked doing her job; she enjoyed doing her job. This is a relatively uncommon thing. And then they made her an alcoholic. Uh, guys? Yeh, a little UST, a little frisson between her and Gil isn't a bad thing but let's not make this into a soap, eh? (Too late). ([livejournal.com profile] wliberation)

  4. CSI: M - Tim Speedle

Yeh, because this wasn't at all predictable, was it? (On a side note, S3 hasn't aired here yet - thank god. So I'm still in denial). Actually, I liked Tim through a process of gradual elimination. When I first came to the Miami fandom, I didn't like anyone but Alexx but I feel we don't know enough about her and I don't really connect with the character. I was a HUGE Megan fan but she left. Horatio and I don't get along so well and there are aspects of Calleigh's characterisation that bug the hell out of me. I think Delko is stupid. (Side note ii: I like the fandom now. Well, I like it more than I used to. yay for reruns!)

Speed wasn't stupid. Speed was intelligent, his job wasn't the be all and end all but he enjoyed it. He had this runaway history and (a point in his favour) he quite liked Megan. I know that by the end of it, Rory Cochrane was not happy about his character and I can totally see why; the writers, over time, had just made him depressive but if you watch the early part of the first season you can see this isn't true. And anyways, I just love him! ([livejournal.com profile] sens_nita)

  5. CSI: NY - Stella Bonasera

Stella is by far my favourite character. She's compassionate, she's intelligent and she has a sense of humour. She's advanced enough not to need her hand held, she can admit when she's wrong and she's not conceited. Also, I think Melina Kanakaredes is brilliant! ([livejournal.com profile] snowpenguin545)

  6. L&O: Mothership - Jamie Ross!

I'm told I'm in the minority here but I wasn't in fandom for the Claire Kincaid Years. I love Jamie! I love Carey Lowell! I love that she didn't always agree with Jack; I love that she had a guilt complex over her ex-husband (bastard); I love that last scene she had, when she left, when she walks out of the courts without looking at McCoy - how she couldn't lie about disagreeing with him, even if she wanted to. YAY! And now she's a judge which makes my fannish heart sing :D ([livejournal.com profile] denz_ka)

  7. L&O: SVU - Olivia Benson

You've got to love strong women who aren't afraid to make it in a man's world and that's primarily the reason I love Benson. (Other than that, my favourites are Fin and Munch, of course). Olivia has strong emotions about strong convictions that she holds and at the very least, she's extremely consistent. Mariska Hargitay is so talented with this character, too; she plays a difficult role with a mix of subtle humour and flair and I appreciate that in her. ([livejournal.com profile] snowpenguin545)

  8. L&O: Little & Large (CI) - Alex Eames

It's no secret that I think Alex is sorely underused. As I read in an A/N today, it's not so much that Goren is clever and Eames is not; it's more that Eames is tough on her emotions and Goren is effused with them. Eames plays the straight; she's a good cop who pulls off a duty next to Bobby. She hasn't got time to mess around - this is the job. She doesn't have sympathy for the wrong-doers. Right is right; wrong is wrong and when Goren picks out a link, Eames is fast on his heels, making the connections nearly as fast as he does. What else can I say? Katherine Erbe is adorable :) ([livejournal.com profile] snowpenguin545)

  9. Magnificent 7 - Josiah Sanchez

Well, thsi would be something of a recent epiphany for me. I was all for the brooding Chris Larabee (blah blah torturedbyhispastcakes) and I had such a fit when Vin ran off with that woman (you only have to ask my friends about 'the cowboy that runaway' incident). It should be one of those two. But no. Josiah. Because Josiah has wisdom and is kindly, not to mention a sense of humour. He understands the balance in everything. He forgives, he forgets, he's achieving peace. And yet, he has demons that haunt him, too. If I met someone like him, I think I'd have a lot of time for them (whilst I'd probably want to shake Larabee into waking). ([livejournal.com profile] wliberation)

  10. The West Wing - Toby Ziegler

This one's tough because I really, really love CJ (and not just the character, AJ is phenomenal too) but in truth, Toby is by far my favourite. He's witty, he's intelligent, he has this way with language with makes me smile and Richard Schiff's delivery is spot on every time. I like him for all the reasons I like Speedle and because underneath everything (the grumpy facade, the searing wit, the loyalty), Toby's a good guy. A really good guy.
