Another month. Oops.

--

Let's start off with things that have happened most recently. I've been knitting, and yesterday I finished my project. Because of the Olympics and increased transport congestion, I've been taking the 6.10 train to the city, and knitting is good for the commute. I'm currently writing out some notecards so I can work on my next thing.

I also watched all of Teen Wolf - the first season on Sunday last week, and the second from Sunday night through to Tuesday. (Work is so inconvenient sometimes.) It's been a little while since I marathoned something without getting bored of it in some way, and the show is surprisingly good at being consistent with plot and maintaining engagement. Now I have to wait for the last two episodes. Rude.

The night of the opening ceremony, I went to see The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time with The (Ex-) Flatmate and [livejournal.com profile] hestia8. Guys. GUYS. What an amazing adaptation of the book! It's a minimalist stage, made up like the inside of the protagonist's mind, which makes full use of its cast. Some of it was like a dance. I loved it so much that I've bought tickets to see it again in a couple of weeks.

I also went to see The Lion King. I saw it a few years back, but this time we went for [livejournal.com profile] yaiyeishka's birthday, and I got us aisle seats. THE ANIMALS COME DOWN THE AISLES. I was embarrassingly moved by the opening sequence. I came over all Dana from Sports Night.

We also had a family party for my sister's birthday! We lucked out massively because the party was the first day of the amazing weather we had for about a week. It was a great weekend, and then I took the Monday off work so that I could hang out with my cousin who was over from Canada. The heat nearly knocked us out on the Monday, but it was so gorgeous, and great to spend time with my cousin.

Later that week I met up with two of my more local cousins and had dinner with them on Southbank. Yet another deliciously warm evening. London, by that point, was buzzing. The torch was making its way to Hyde Park that night, and everyone was feeling the Olympic spirit. It's weird because my interest in the Olympics is always minimal, and restricted to the ceremonies, but the buzz of it being in the city has really caught me.

Work is its usual unstable, inconsistent self. I know I have a lot of work sitting with other people, but in the meantime I'm building graphics. Boring things. I...am not a graphics designer, and it's fucking difficult to build in Flash when I don't have a full grasp if its functionality, and I'm more used to the flexibility of, say, photoshop. And the graphics are dulllllll. Sometimes I get to recolour grayscale images, but even that is sort of tiresome because tracing the graphics is so imprecise that you end up cleaning up pixel by pixel, and, yeah, kill me.

Got through three sets last week, though. So. Baby steps, I guess.

Another wedding announced for next year. KILL ME.

I'm sure I had more to talk about, but I can't remember. Oh! So, I got sucked into this game on G+. I don't normally play games online - the rare few are, like, bejewelled and bubble blast knock-offs. I was playing something similar on G+ a couple of months ago but then those games got taken down, so I stopped. Obviously. But last night I started playing this game where you build "cities" by clustering objects until their combined value increases. e.g. Three grasses makes a bush, three bushes makes a tree, three trees a small house etc. etc. IT IS MENTAL. Sometimes there are bears! If you trap the bears they turn into headstones. I-- yeah. There are also NINJA BEARS that can TELEPORT.

Let me say that again: TELEPORTING NINJA BEARS.

I don't even know, but I am so addicted to this stupid thing.

THAT ELEPHANT IS THE CUTEST. Everyone I know is knitting elephants. I'm still knitting a hundred thousand flowers.

You knitted a purple elephant??? You are the coolest! And what a great way to deal with the Olympics commute-stress too - "I spent more time complaining" - "I knitted a purple elephant".

I have an important question. Is the next project a giraffe?

I couldn't resist the mention of teleporting ninja bears -- and damn yes that is a very addicting game!

I still can't believe you knit that elephant! I don't know how that's possible. You are a wizard, possibly.

You won't believe how hard I burst out laughing at your description of the game. NINJA BEARS. THAT TELEPORT. IT SOUNDS AWESOME. I'd love to play, but Google won't let me, goddamn!
