For the record, the layout was supposed to look like this, but then I got fed up of trying to wrangle shit so that it worked across different screen sizes, and ended up deleting the majority of my most recent customisations. Have fiddled the tiniest amount with the navigation, and with the profile, and now I am going to quit like the quitting quitter that I am.

Whilst we're here, my desktop currently looks like this, although the previous image was this. I am fickle and will likely change it back by next week.

Oh, hey, so a month ago I was returning from London and getting ready to go to Edinburgh. I still haven't talked about that, so now is as good a time as any other. I am the lamest and so have failed to have the photos developed yet. Yes, developed, because I decided to pick up some one-use cameras when I was up there.

The trip up was pretty busy. It was pouring with rain at home, and the train was absolutely packed. I managed to snag a seat that someone had reserved but failed to claim, and after York the seat was empty anyway, so I didn't have to move. It's a long enough journey - 4+ hours - and I honestly don't remember what I did. Probably wrote letters, that being a thing.

Got to Edinburgh where the weather was beyond gorgeous. It was so sunny, and the city is so beautiful. Also beyond gorgeous: [livejournal.com profile] sepiaxtoned who was the best city buddy ever. She grabbed me from the station, took me to where we were staying, and then escorted me all around Edinburgh for the duration of my stay. We went to eat at some bar where the waitress was really sweet, and then we walked around taking pictures of the city (and us in silly hats) until the show at 8.

The show! The show did not get great reviews, but I also feel like a lot of the reviews missed the point. Alonzo King's Lines Ballet performed two pieces, both of which were drilled through with wonderful two-piece performances. The men in the company were phenomenal; the shapes were unlike anything you'd see elsewhere. It was quite different to anything I've seen at Covent Garden - musically, especially - but it was beautiful. Like watching bodies bloom over and over. It was exactly to my liking.

Afterwards we went walkabout, and then the next day we took to the streets early and perused everything Fringe had to offer - the Times book festival; a craft fest; some sincerely weird street performers; some sketch comedians; the castle. The weather was lovely throughout, and when I left at 4 I was exhausted, but would have liked to stay longer. It was amazing.

The journey back was...mad. No seats so I was stood in the vestibule with 12 Scots men heading to a stag do in Newcastle. Um. Yes. Just insane.

And that was that; must do again next year.

Tonight is Merlin, and whilst the humour on the show is pretty slapstick and embarrassing (see: the two-parter with the trolls) I am fucking excited to see Richard Wilson get to exercise his considerable chops. I love him! He is great. Also, Merlin Day is also Sir Leon Day, and really, who could say no to that? Don't answer that; I'm ignoring you.

I watched Fringe. It is easily the best thing I have seen this week - bar Weeds, which was one long run into hysteria. But, yes, Fringe! Andrew Royo turned up and was wonderful; alt!Astrid continued to redefine interesting; Anna Torv did an excellent job of carrying the episode. I want mooooooooore.

Things I thought I had purchased but hadn't actually: Moleskine address book! I have spent a few years looking for an address book that doesn't delineate sections (so: four lines for address; two for numbers; bold line, next entry) and [livejournal.com profile] sepiaxtoned suggested Moleskine, and now I am going to order everything from there, because it is perfect.

Also: yesterday I got my hair cut (at last!) and the woman just...didn't listen to me. It doesn't look bad, but it isn't what I asked for. Oh well.

I am less ill, and still tired. I'm sure there'll be a remedy eventually.

NEW FRINGE?? OH GOD WHERE. I was pretty uninspired with some of series 2 and then the final episodes punched me in the guts, hit me over the head and promptly disappeared from my life.
