Harvest feels so early this year, but then I realised the kids break for summer today, and it's a couple weeks until August, so whilst it's a tiny bit early, it's not that different to what it should be. The weather has yielded craziness this year. Last year, and the year before, harvest felt late; the rain pushed everything and wrecked most of the yield. This year everything has been in bloom at odd times.

Anyway, they cleared the field beyond our street in, like, a day and a half! That almost never happens.

Today I'm going to put on deodorant and then moisturise in the hopes that this will solve my one-two problem of deodorant drying my skin out like crazy, but sweat irritating my skin. Every day is a wild ride in experimentation for me, guys.

Lol, I got, like, six (!) texts last night telling me (kindly) to stop being a paranoid idiot. I guess I didn't need to make any apologies? Well. Good.

It is a gorgeous morning, but it's going to be so hot. I spent the commute yesterday brushing thunderbugs off my face. I hate that!

At 11am today there is a Services briefing. Holy cow, the Barbican better be air conditioned or I am not fucking going. It is too hot for corporate bullshit today.

[livejournal.com profile] inoue130 is the loveliest, loveliest person. I came home to a surprise package full of lovely things - notepaper, a pen, some really beautiful natural soaps, and more. And every single thing in said package had meaning and was thought about and I nearly cried like a baby. Thank you, girl, I really, really appreciate it - both the gifts and the time that went into collating them. They are perfect. And you are marvellous!

I should take my netbook to work with me today otherwise I will never get femgen written. Or I could take an A4 pad, I guess. But that won't fit in my handbag.

I am worried about femgen because normally, with a prompt and a deadline, I can get myself to write. But I have no want any more. I haven't read a book in months. I wonder if it's tiredness or laziness, and I think it is probably the latter.

Anyway, if I ever get this written, I will be scouting for a beta. Please bear that in mind.

!!!!! Tags are different! And less convenient in their differentness! Why can't I hit tab and enter?! What is this tomfoolery.

Oh, wait, I can. What-- why? It is too early for confusion.

I'll happily offer my services as beta, but bear in mind it may not be convenient for you as a) I only have internet at work and b) (less important due to magic of, er, printers) I only have computer access at work. So yeah, if it's actually convenient for you, I am here :D

(am also available for cheerleading your writing if wanted; I sketched out something rough and maybe mildly amusing yesterday, and you managed to come up with something sharp and hilarious in response *sigh*)

True story: I had to look up the word "thunderbug". Do you mean these (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrips)? I've never seen one before!

Good luck with femgen. I sympathise, being in a very similar position myself wrt: writing (although: reading more books this month than I usually do. What's up with that?) It looks like [livejournal.com profile] hestia8 has it covered, but if that doesn't work out I'm always available as back-up? Unless you finish it during my holiday, in which case there may be shenanigans.

Ahhh, you are the best. I think the main inconvenience is how I haven't written it yet.

Also: don't be daft. Just 'sketched out', so effortlessly! You think about these characters in such a rounded way, whereas I am rather stuck in the meta. The twitter thing was fun, though. Which reminds me: Malcolm would be totally into it. I think that's how Ruth gets converted - she visits him & mentions Tariq and Lucas, and suddenly Malcolm gets SUPER enthusiastic (though he tries to hide it). Next day, Ruth has her own account. (Lady Lazarus is a GREAT Ruth name.)

Yeah; they're more colloquially known as midges? Tiny black things. I can't believe you've never seen thunderbugs! They're more prevalent in the country, yes, but you get them in London, too. They don't bite or anything; they're just irritating.

I think deadline is month end. So. I should probably get a move on, oh god. Thanks for the offer, girl.

You should have seen me when I opened it. I couldn't speak. That's really hard to make happen! *hugs*
