DEAR YULETIDE WRITER:
Hiiiiii!
(If you find this letter SCARY and USELESS and INTIMIDATING, then please go ahead and ignore it. No, for serious, forget it exists.)
This is my second Yuletide and I continue to be massively excited about the whole thing! MARVELLOUS! Thank you in advance for being my Yuletide Giver; I am already honoured to have you on board, not to mention tres grateful. You should know that I am 100% guaranteed to love anything you write me, a) because I love these fandoms and b) because I tend to fare badly on fic exchange challenges and Yuletide is the one occasion where this hasn't happened.
To begin with: oh my gosh, I am SO SORRY for the state of my prompts this year. They're horrendously formed, I know. This is because I thought I'd missed the deadline and rushed to get them done and my brain caved in and it was ugly. So. I'm sorry. But the plus side is I can now make those prompts read better.
So, you got me! EXCELLENT. Please don't be scared. I am actually deathly dull and very easy to please. I'm going to list things that I like in fic and then things I like in the fandoms I chose. As I mentioned to my Yuletide Giver last year, these are all just guidelines and I honestly will enjoy anything I get.
+ my tags (not at all straightforward, sorry)
+ delicious account (less relevant this year)

I feel like all the links I shared last year are SO unhelpful this year because since starting work my fannish output has dwindled to near-enough nothing. But that said, if you flick through my journal (picspam posts and fandom in particular) you'll probably get a vague of idea of the kind of person I am, and the kind of things I enjoy.
/in general
General likes, as lifted directly from last year's letter, are: a dose of angsting (though I also have a soft spot for happy endings - yeah, idk); groups working in harmony; interesting fic formats (non-linear fic &c.); missing scenes.
I will also read a fic that contains none of these things: surprise me!
/fandom specifics.
01. flashbacks of a fool.
The film is frustrating to me because the protagonist is an asshole for whom I hold no sympathy. It's a film filled with women, though, who you see briefly and learn so much about in such a small space. Joe's family home is a very maternal, very female environment and yet the whole story is about his emotional claptrap. I would love to read an explanation for how Grace and Peggy came to live together, or for the way in which Ruth and Jesse's relationship evolved in the years after Joe leaves.
I am aware that I'm being very specific, which is difficult. I'd also be interested in reading Boots' take on the events in the film, or a general overview of lives after the film ended. To be honest, though, I doubt anyone has listed this as something they'd even be willing to write, heh.
If you don't know the film, wikipedia has a terrible summary here. The most powerful part of the film is the closing sequence. I've bookmarked some links on articles associated with the film, but the most useful one I've seen focuses on the women and can be found here.
02. saving grace.
I'm aware that this is the only fandom that appears both this year and last; that doesn't indicate anything other than my fickle nature. I will read things that have a religious bent if you are so inclined because I think the show does a great job of balancing both sides of that view. I will take gen, het, slash or femslash. I will take funny or serious. I'd love something that features Kate Perry and Butch Ada's mother because that's never not hilarious! I'd also love stories from Grace's past or pretty much anything Grace-centric. I love that character and I love her for her flaws most of all.
Do what you will. Newcomers can hit up Wikipedia.
03. defying gravity.
Characters I loved most: Evram Mintz; Nadia Schilling; Zoe Barnes; Maddux Donner. In that order. I enjoyed the show for the people drama and secrets; I also enjoyed the show because that set was gorgeous, goodness me. I'd be interested in seeing more backstory for the characters, maybe all the way to their youths, or watching them make the descents at each of the other planets/sites. This is a good fandom, I think, for multiple perspectives OR single ones, because each character has a lot invested in their motivation for signing up to the Antares mission. I will take anything.
As an addendum, here is an article on what was planned for later episodes/seasons of the show. It's quite revealing but also open-ended. Have at it.
04. fringe.
I would LOVE to have Astrid fic because I adore her; bonus points for Astrid&Peter or Astrid/Peter. I'd also love any Olivia-centric fic that doesn't turn her into a 5-year-old. I know I threw out a lot in the prompt, but seriously, go crazy. Case fic! Character study! Screwball comedy! HEAPS AND HEAPS OF ANGSTING. It's all good.
I have no links for this fandom (I'm surprised it even qualified as 'rare', to be frank) but I guess I do have 'inspirational' picspams at my tumblr? So. Yes.
I feel like I've made things MORE difficult as opposed to less and the last thing I want to do is delivery a coronary on anyone. Give something you enjoyed writing, not something that made you want to thrash your skull with a spanner. If that means ignoring everything except my absolute no-no's then go for it. If inspiration takes and you write something else, I WILL NOT MIND. In short: oh gosh, please don't be scared.
To conclude: am excited; am crazy; adore you already!
Thanks!delgaserasca
