There's a mark on my window where a bird flew into the glass yesterday. Plus, my clock is flashing which means there must have been some sort of electrical jump today. I'm pretty certain these two things are completely unrelated but it's funny what juxtaposition can do for non-causal correlation.

I was at the sub office today for the admin team meeting. I often tweet about how annoying it is to work in a team full of women because the female group mentality lends as easily to extreme bitchiness as it does solidarity but the admin team is a tres lovely group. (It's the actual teams that get frustrating; admin is like, I don't know, an under faculty. Kind of awesome.) We've recently started implementing a system of records that will eventually allow us to run a paperless office. This is muy excellente news, but also involves backscanning existing papers.
A bit of people geography. In my office (Office C) there are two administrators: myself (full-time) and LL (part-time). We get along very, very well. There is only one administrator at Office F (part-time), and then there are four at Office H (Senior Admin, two full-timers, and one part-timer). This is my team, but I work in Office C with The Team for whom I administrate. Yes? Yes.
A large part of the meeting today was taken up with issues surrounding the backscanning of existing papers. There are only two admin at my office, but ours is the main office so we cover double the work, whereas Office F is the smallest site (hence only one admin) and Office H straddles a middleground but has the most administrators (don't know why this is). So Office H has twice the number of staff for half the amount of work. This means that in my office we're behind on scanning.
We are also behind on scanning because the system infuriates LL so at this point it's just me doing it. Which is fine because the scanner is on my desk, linked to my computer, and I've only just worked out the system myself. Normally LL and I bitch good-naturedly about the scanning, but it ends up with her being dubious and my looking forward to when all the clients are barcoded (um, their paperwork, not them; this is not a farm, however often it may seem so) because I think the system will ultimately be very good.
Anyway, terrible boring story cut short: LL got so upset that she left the meeting. Hopefully she'll be all right tomorrow when I see her. I'm worried because she's a very good-natured person and though she is of the anxious kind, she's hard working, and I wouldn't want to have offended her in any way. I'm pretty certain it's the stress of the scanning that's getting to her, which, fine, I can do all that. But I hope it's that simple and not something, well, else.
Relatedly: we ended the meeting with a discussion re: where we're going for Christmas lunch. Each of The Teams goes out for an evening meal (I can't attend mine, sadface) but Admin team sometimes meet up for a meeting and a lunch outing so that will be very much yay.
